Kabrit Desert Safaris T-Shirt

£24.00

Book now for the most exclusive desert tour of 1942: Kabrit Desert Safaris. It's all-inclusive, with transport by armed Willys jeep, overnight stays under the stars, and guaranteed excitement at enemy airfields deep behind the lines.

Kabrit, on the shores of the Great Bitter Lake in Egypt's Suez Canal Zone, is where David Stirling formed L Detachment, SAS Brigade in 1941 and trained its first volunteers. Its first parachute raid in November 1941 went badly wrong. After that, the unit got to its targets with the Long Range Desert Group, before getting its own Willys jeeps, armed with twin Vickers K machine guns and loaded with fuel, water and explosives.
Led by men like Stirling and Blair "Paddy" Mayne, the SAS jeep patrols crossed hundreds of miles of open desert to strike Axis airfields at night. Among their most famous raids was the jeep attack on Sidi Haneish in July 1942. By the end of the desert campaign they had destroyed hundreds of enemy aircraft on the ground.
