MG42 T-Shirt

£24.00
The MG42, one of the most influential and feared MG's of the Second World War.

The Maschinengewehr 42 entered service in 1942. It was designed for mass production, using stamped and pressed steel instead of expensive machined parts. It fired the 7.92×57mm Mauser round at around 1,200 rounds per minute, so fast that individual shots blurred into a tearing sound that Allied soldiers never forgot. British troops often called German machine guns "Spandau", and Americans compared the MG42's sound to a buzzsaw. With its quick-change barrel, a trained crew could keep it firing for long periods, and German infantry tactics were built around it.

It fought on every front, from the Eastern Front to Normandy's bocage, Italy and the Ardennes. Its design was so good that after the war it was adopted by NATO armies as the MG3, and it influenced MG design for decades.
